Day 0 - Arriving at the start…
I am in St Jean Pied de Port the most popular starting point of El Camino De Santiago(Frances). It was an early start today in the predawn. I took the train from Madrid to Pamplona, and then walked half an hour to catch the bus from Pamplona to St Jean Pied de Port. Gate in the old city of Pamplona First siting of bicyclists doing El Camino On the train from Pamplona. I met several other pilgrims while on the train. 3 of them opted to get a taxi to St Jean and 2 of us already had bus tickets so we walked to the train station. Madrid in the predawn. The Pilgrim’s office in SJPP. Very busy this time of year. They provide general advice and also an official credential. To Boente
Someone’s alarm clock went off at 5:30 this morning☹️ Oh, and then they started talking to each other loudly. So I had an early start this morning which meant I got to my albergue at about noon. They were really sweet and let me check in early. More forest walking and walking through small towns. Lots more eucalyptus forests, too. More hórreos. I went through one large city, Malide. There was an industrial park before we actually entered the city. It was not a very interesting city to look at. My albergue has a swimming pool. It’s so cold that it’s really only good for soaking your sore feet. It was a short day today just over 20 km. Tomorrow will be about 28 km and a high of 76°. I’m going to try and get up at 5:30am again.🤣
