Albergues or hostels

I’m staying at a fairly typical pilgrim accommodation, called an Albergue. Usually 4 beds to a cubicle and 6 cubicles to a room. Often lockable lockers are provided, but not always. Mixed dorms. I have been in a cubicle with 3 men and tonight there are 3 women and 1 man. There are 2 showers for the floor and 2 toilets. First come first served. Mostly people are very considerate and it all seems to flow smoothly.

Usually I wash my daily clothes by hand and then hang them out to dry, but seeing as I took a rest day, I decided to take my little bundle of clothes to the laundromat. Everything was in use except 1 huge machine. The cost was prohibitive, but just then 2 other pilgrims walked in and we decided to all share the washer. It all works out. I had never met these two ladies before, but we shared some deep conversations while our clothes got clean.
