To Portomarin

For about two weeks my right knee has been giving me a lot of pain. In fact, two nights ago at Fonfria, I hardly slept at all because of the pain. When I got to Sarria yesterday I was in so much pain I could barely walk. I’ve done everything I possibly can; I’ve been to the pharmacy; got all the right creams. I elevate my legs after my walk I have a compression sleeve that I use, but it just keeps getting worse. Last night I couldn’t sleep at all because of the pain. I felt sure I was going to have to stop the walk and come home early. So in the middle of the night not being able to sleep, it seemed a good time to pray. I told Jesus that no matter what happened I would continue to trust Him, and praise him for all the help He’s already given in this difficult endeavor. I very rarely pray for myself, but last night I told Jesus that I would prefer to be able to finish this walk, and I would like to finish it without pain. I asked Him to heal my knee. For some reason I was surprised when I woke up this morning and there was no pain in my knee! I walked 24 km today with no pain. There is still some stiffness, but no pain. Thank you Jesus!

So you can imagine what a great day it was today! Greeting all those people that I passed or that passed me with a cheery,  “ Hola, Buen Camino!” ! And there were a LOT of people walking today.

Again, most of the walk was on paths, under trees. The trees were these great gnarly, old oak trees.

I went through several small townlets and farms where I got in trouble with one farmer as she was moving her cows from one field to the next, and I was trying to take a picture she shouted at me to put it down. She did not want me taking a picture. 🤣

I also saw these interesting structures on the farms. I believe they are to do with either grain storage or hay storage.

I now have less than 100 km to walk!

Portomarin is a very charming town. It used to be down in the valley, but when the reservoir was built, they had to bring it up onto the hilltop.

Haha! I can’t believe my albergue tonight. 130 beds all in one room, and my bed is the one by the door! Will I get any sleep tonight? There is a group of 40 school boys as part of this 130 beds. And as a fun coincidence several people that I have met along the Camino are here tonight. It feels like a reunion.
